Miyagi, No Not Mr.

Up until a few nights ago I was ready to unsubscribe from every deal site I ever allowed myself to participate on. They have become really almost worse than spam and I thought they were completely useless. That is, until, I received an e-mail from Groupon about Miyagi Sushi Bar.

Joe Knows Sushi!

Chirashi with Uni and the hidden treasure of Unagi beneath the rice.

My friend and fellow fat kid/food blogger the SushiPro has ever so kindly opened my eyes to hidden sushi gems from Dade to Palm Beach County, and tonight I got to try one of those places on my own. Armed with the knowledge of what my tummy and taste buds are already into as well as some tips from SushiPro, I dragged my mom and friend out for some adventures in Japanese cuisine at Sushi Joe in Doral, I can say for certain this story has a happy ending!

A Slasher, with a Happy Ending!

Korean Spicy Beef Bowl

Once upon a time in the city of Miami a little girl who loved sushi learned a hard rule: steer clear of places that advertise themselves as serving multiple types of cuisine!

Yes, I am what you may call a "slasher snob". Places that serve Thai/Sushi or Japanese/Korean are generally places I avoid, except on this fateful Friday my fat kid self by encouragement of friends, dined at Lan Pan Asian Cafe. Lan Pan Asian Cafe boasts itself as specializing in Eastern and South-Eastern Asian cuisine - I was skeptical. Even more so when I opened their extensive menu!

All I Need is One Bowl

My favorite chirashi at Sushi Ko... simply perfect!

Comfort food is described as a meal or dish that just makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. For me, this dish is chirashi.

Battle 1 : Shibui vs Sushi Ko

Uzu Sukuri - This is one has the ponzu on the side. (Shibui)

A friendly battle between Westchester's Sushi Ko and Kendall's Shibui.
